LSNL is a Non-profit Corporate Law firm providing legal services to those who cannot afford a private lawyer. No fee is charged for these services. However, before a case can be accepted, certain requirements must be met.

LSNL was formed on February 11, 2002 via a merger of Northwest Louisiana Legal Services, Inc. of Shreveport, Louisiana and Kistachie Louisiana Legal Services Corporation of Natchitoches, Louisiana. Prior to the merger, Northwest Louisiana Legal Services and its predecessor Caddo-Bossier Legal Aid Society served the Shreveport area in providing legal services since 1967 while Kistachie Legal Services Corporation provided legal services to the Natchitoches area since 1978. Additionally, as of January 1, 2002, the Legal Services Corporation awarded LSNL an additional twelve (12) parishes located in the uppermost northern section of Louisiana. Therefore, LSNL now serves Twenty-Six (26) of 64 or 41% of the parishes of Louisiana. The parishes served are Bienville, Bossier, Caddo, Caldwell, Catahoula, Claiborne, Concordia, Desoto, East Carroll, Franklin, Grant, Jackson, LaSalle, Lincoln, Madison, Morehouse, Natchitoches, Quachita, Red River, Richland, Sabine, Tensas, Union, Webster, West Carroll and Winn.

LSNL has six (6) office locations, with the central office being located in Shreveport, Louisiana and branch offices in Minden, Monroe, Tallulah, Natchitoches and Jonesville, Louisiana. LSNL employs a staff of forty-seven (47) employees which is comprised of an Interim Executive Director, Litigation Director, Chief Financial Officer, three (3) Managing Attorneys, five (5) Senior Staff Attorneys, ten (10) Staff Attorneys, five (5) Paralegals, one (1) Accountant, three (3) Office Managers, one (1) Executive Secretary, ten (10) Legal Secretaries, five (5) Office Assistants/Intake Specialist, and one (1) Janitor.
