Natchitoches Area Jaycees – Making a Comeback
After several years of modest activity the local Natchitoches Area Jaycees are announcing they are once again actively supporting the community of Natchitoches. Currently lead by President Darrin Elliot the Jaycees have been regrouping and recruiting new members. They have volunteered their support for multiple activities over the years. This year in particular the Jaycees members disturbed carnations to the local Nursing Homes on Valentines Day. Recently they helped to direct traffic during the inaugural “Do the Dash” Diabetes fundraiser on November 3rd 2007. In addition, the Jaycees were the supporting staff the annual Natchitoches DU Banquet a silent and live auction for the largest conservation group to preserve duck wetlands. During the Christmas season the Jaycees will team up with Les Amies and Elite Broadcasting to help raise Toys-for-Tots.
The Jaycees have strong history in Natchitoches as far back as 1956 with Mr. Dick Hatch as their first president. The Jaycees also known as The Junior Chamber gives young people between the ages of 18 and 40 the tools they need to build the bridges of success for themselves in the areas of business development, management skills, individual training, community service, and international connections. They are a non-profit corporation/organization. If you have any questions or would like to consider joining please feel free to call Darin Ellett at 318-663-5783.
